What is the Wunderkind Shopify App?
The Wunderkind Shopify App provides the integration between Wunderkind and your Shopify Checkout Extensibility environment, allowing you to continue to support personalized abandonment sends to your customers. Currently in Beta, the app is "unlisted," meaning it’s not searchable on the Shopify App Store yet. This lets us gather feedback and improve before a public release. Listed or unlisted, both versions meet the same requirements for a great user experience.
Installing the Wunderkind Shopify App for Checkout
Please reach out to your Wunderkind point of contact if you have any questions.

2. Pay the $1 install fee
-
-
- Note: This fee relates to compliance with Shopify’s listing guidelines.

3. Log in to the App
-
-
Use your Connect UI login credentials to log in. If you do not have a Connect account, reach out to your Wunderkind contact who can create an account for you.
-
4. Enable the Wunderkind feature toggle for Checkout
-
- Enable the appropriate toggles in your Wunderkind App Settings. To access these toggles, click on the “Apps” in the left hand navigation bar and select “Wunderkind”. The Wunderkind App homepage will load in Shopify. From there, click on the “Settings” option on the left hand side navigation bar under “Wunderkind” (not your Shopify settings).
Ensure that the toggles under product features have been checked.
-
- “Enable Checkout Experience” should be be checked. If it is not, please click on the checkbox to enable it.
- “Enable Product Feeds” and “Enable Onsite Experience” should NOT be checked. These features only apply to clients who are using the full App beta experience.
5. Remove Wunderkind Conversion Pixel & Grant Wunderkind Collaborator Access (if relevant)
If you are onboarding Wunderkind for the first time, this step is not necessary.
If you're a live Wunderkind client migrating to checkout extensibility, you'll need to remove the Wunderkind conversion pixel from wherever it is currently implemented, as it is no longer needed. The Wunderkind Smart Tag should remain installed as-is.
Please provide your Wunderkind contact with the following information, so that Wunderkind can request collaborator access to your Shopify store. This will allow Wunderkind to address any questions you might have in a quicker and more efficient manner.
- URL of your Shopify store
- Collaborator request code for your Shopify store (if needed)
Additional Information
What is “Finish your Wunderkind setup (self service beta)”?
You may notice a beta link within the Shopify app. You do not need to worry about using that link - it doesn’t add anything to you Wunderkind experience.
We are constantly iterating on new interfaces and experiences. While you won’t use the sign up process behind the link, in the future, you’ll get to benefit from the new developments that get turned into products based on this sort of experimentation.
Why does the Shopify app ask for "read_markets" permissions?
We are using the Shopify Markets permissions to support a few upcoming features. If you are unfamiliar with Shopify Markets, you can learn more about it in Shopify's documentation here.
When Wunderkind is running across multiple geographies (eg, country specific websites with distinct website IDs), the integration with Shopify Markets allows Wunderkind to continue to deliver geographic-specific experiences and ensures that we appropriately assign conversions to the appropriate websites.
We are also using this feature as an "ingredient" in some upcoming product releases (shhhhh...)
If Wunderkind is not supporting multiple website IDs across your Shopify store, you do not need to grant these additional permissions. However, you may need to go back to enable it at a later date if you want to start using new features. Your Wunderkind contact will let you know if this is the case.
