How to Implement the Wunderkind Smart Tag in DFP
The Wunderkind Smart Tag enables core functionality for advertising experiences, each is unique to a website domain. Our tag must be targeted to an ad unit that is present on every page where we do not compete with any other ad units. We need to track user behaviors on page as our ads are behaviorally triggered. Accompanying this integration guide is your unique Smart Tag(s) in a .txt file. Tag(s) should look like this:
Your tag(s) will include a unique number code, specific to your website(s)
Important Things To Note:
- For optimal performance make sure that the tag is placed site-wide. By not deploying the tag fully site-wide, Wunderkind is limited in validating the integrity and QA of its products and activations on your site. We can not fix what we can not see and strongly recommend deploying the tag across the site.
- We recommend NOT using SafeFrames because our unique, behaviorally triggered ad deployments operate optimally outside of SafeFrames.
- The GAM macro appended to tag in an out-of-page unit allows for reporting on billed impressions served to reduce GAM fees. If you are interested in this capability, you must place the tag in a dedicated out-of-page unit and notify us so we can set up appropriately to ensure accurate implementation. Follow instructions for item 1.1.
- Tag loads asynchronously and does not block page render
- Do not set tag to lazy load or in a waterfall. Make sure tag is top of inventory structure.
DFP Instructions
- Allocate an ad slot size to make sure Wunderkind is called site wide, as long as it’s dedicated to Wunderkind and not being used by any other partners for any other purposes, including serving other ads through it. Here are a two ways to implement via DFP:
-
Out-of-Page (with GAM Macro): Place tag in dedicated out-of-page slot and insert the escaped macro %%VIEW_URL_ESC%% Example below:
-
1x1: Place tag into dedicated 1x1 in the header.
-
Out-of-Page (with GAM Macro): Place tag in dedicated out-of-page slot and insert the escaped macro %%VIEW_URL_ESC%% Example below:
- Create a new line item targeting the ad slot size you created in step 1.
- Add a new creative using the third-party creative type.
- Paste the provided Smart Tag into the code snippet section.
- Uncheck the box to “Serve into a SafeFrame” box. This will allow Wunderkind to serve behaviorally triggered ads outside of the designated iframe
