This document is a step-by-step guide on integrating Wunderkind Platform with your Shopify store via Wunderkind's Shopify App. Our Shopify App is currently in Beta and is not necessarily supported for all client use cases. Please consult with your Wunderkind contact to determine if the App is right for you.
Note that this article refers to utilizing the full set of features within our App. Alternatively, you may utilize the App for Checkout Extensibility support only.
Completing these steps early will help you onboard faster, but you don’t have to worry about sending emails before you are ready. Installing and configuring the Shopify App will not trigger any sends.

What is the Wunderkind Shopify App?
The Wunderkind Shopify App makes it easy to set up our Onsite, Email, and Text products by handling tasks like installing Wunderkind tags and pixels, and setting up website tracking. Currently in Beta, the app is "unlisted," meaning it’s not searchable on the Shopify App Store yet. This lets us gather feedback and improve before a public release. Listed or unlisted, both versions meet the same requirements for a great user experience. By joining the trial, you quickly access our services without any risk to your store.
Wunderkind Shopify App Eligibility
If you have any questions as to whether your store qualifies for the App, please reach out to your Wunderkind contact.
-
One Wunderkind website per One Shopify store ✅
-
For performance as well as compliance with local privacy regulations, Wunderkind will typically set up separate website ids for separate geographies, and within the Shopify App we can only associate one website id to one Shopify Store.
-
If your site runs in multiple geographies, let your Wunderkind contact know and we can partner with you to determine whether the Shopify App is supported.
-
-
Standard email events and metadata ✅
-
The Wunderkind Shopify App only supports standard Wunderkind email campaigns and supports standard Shopify events. Custom email flows (eg, subscription abandonment or quick flow abandonment) and custom metadata (eg, pulling star ratings into email) are not supported. See here for more information on Shopify’s standard events.

Shopify Search and Checkout Apps❓

Custom Shopify search app or checkout flow apps may not be supported. Please let Wunderkind know if you utilize any Shopify apps for search or checkout so we can confirm app support
-
-
Cookie Management Platforms (CMPs)❓
-
Please let Wunderind know if you use a Cookie Management Platform and any expectations around how the Wunderkind Tag should load. Depending on your setup, there may be issues with load order between the CMP and Wunderkind Tag.

Headless Shopify stores and Single Page Apps (SPA) are not supported 🚫
-
Our Shopify App is built on Shopify’s front end UI, which is not utilized by headless sites. Additionally the site must not be set up as a single page app.
-
-
Shopify Mobile App 🚫
-
Our Shopify App integrates with your primary Shopify store so is not compatible with separate mobile apps. Wunderkind campaigns would not run on your mobile app.

Additional Information
What is “Finish your Wunderkind setup (self service beta)”?
You may notice a beta link within the Shopify app. You do not need to worry about using that link - it doesn’t add anything to you Wunderkind experience.
We are constantly iterating on new interfaces and experiences. While you won’t use the sign up process behind the link, in the future, you’ll get to benefit from the new developments that get turned into products based on this sort of experimentation.
Why does the Shopify app ask for "read_markets" permissions?
We are using the Shopify Markets permissions to support a few upcoming features. If you are unfamiliar with Shopify Markets, you can learn more about it in Shopify's documentation here.
When Wunderkind is running across multiple geographies (eg, country specific websites with distinct website IDs), the integration with Shopify Markets allows Wunderkind to continue to deliver geographic-specific experiences and ensures that we appropriately assign conversions to the appropriate websites.
We are also using this feature as an "ingredient" in some upcoming product releases (shhhhh...)
If Wunderkind is not supporting multiple website IDs across your Shopify store, you do not need to grant these additional permissions. However, you may need to go back to enable it at a later date if you want to start using new features. Your Wunderkind contact will let you know if this is the case.
