What Is the Wunderkind Shopify App?
The Wunderkind Shopify App makes it easy to set up Wunderkind's Onsite, Email, and Text products by handling tasks like installing Wunderkind tags and pixels and setting up website tracking.
Before You Begin: Eligibility and Requirements
Before installing, confirm that your store meets the following requirements. For any questions about eligibility, reach out to your Wunderkind contact.
| Requirement | Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| One Wunderkind website per one Shopify store | ✅ Supported | Only one website ID can be associated with a single Shopify store. If your site runs in multiple geographies, let your Wunderkind contact know so they can determine whether the app is supported. Multi-geo support is coming soon. |
| Standard email events and metadata | ✅ Supported | The app supports standard Wunderkind email campaigns and standard Shopify events. Custom email flows (e.g., subscription abandonment) and custom metadata (e.g., star ratings in email) are not supported. |
| Shopify search and checkout apps | ❓ Check first | Custom Shopify search or checkout flow apps may not be supported. Let your Wunderkind contact know if you use any so support can be confirmed. |
| Cookie Management Platforms (CMPs) | ❓ Check first | Let Wunderkind know if a CMP is in use and any expectations around how the Wunderkind Tag should load. There may be load order issues between the CMP and the Wunderkind Tag. |
| Headless Shopify stores and Single Page Apps (SPA) | 🚫 Not supported | The app is built on Shopify's front-end UI, which headless sites do not use. The site must also not be set up as a single page app. |
| Shopify Mobile App | 🚫 Not supported | The app integrates with your primary Shopify store and is not compatible with separate mobile apps. Wunderkind campaigns would not run on a mobile app. |

- Enter your Email Address and choose a Password.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is "Finish your Wunderkind setup (self-service beta)"?
You may notice a beta link within the Shopify app. Do not worry about using that link — it does not add anything to the Wunderkind experience. Wunderkind is constantly iterating on new interfaces and experiences. While you will not use the sign-up process behind the link, future clients will benefit from the new developments that come from this kind of experimentation.
Why does the Shopify app ask for "read_markets" permissions?
Wunderkind uses the Shopify Markets permissions to support a few upcoming features. When Wunderkind is running across multiple geographies (e.g., country-specific websites with distinct website IDs), the integration with Shopify Markets allows Wunderkind to continue delivering geographically specific experiences and ensures that conversions are appropriately assigned to the correct websites.
If Wunderkind is not supporting multiple website IDs across your Shopify store, there is no need to grant these additional permissions. However, you may need to go back and enable them at a later date to start using new features. Your Wunderkind contact can confirm if this applies to you.
What happens if I change my Shopify theme?
The Wunderkind Tag must be enabled in each theme. If you switch to a new theme, follow the instructions in Step 3 above to re-enable the tag in the new theme before making the switch.
Need help? Reach out to your Wunderkind contact at any point during the setup process. Your Wunderkind team is here to support you every step of the way.
