Getting Started
AI Catalog Experiences use machine learning to make your triggered campaigns smarter and more effective. Instead of only messaging shoppers who looked at a specific product, AI Catalog predicts what each shopper is likely to be interested in and uses that insight to decide who should receive your catalog messages.
The result: you can reach more high-intent shoppers while keeping the experience relevant and personalized.
What Is AI Catalog?
AI Catalog Experiences are an enhancement to your existing catalog-triggered programs. They use product affinity modeling to understand which products each shopper is most likely to purchase based on their behavior over time.
Rather than relying solely on a recent product view, AI Catalog looks at a wide range of signals—for example:
- Browsing paths and on-site engagement
- Historical product interactions
- Conversion and purchase history
- Other behavioral indicators of intent
Using these inputs, AI Catalog estimates how likely each shopper is to purchase specific products and uses those scores to expand the audience for your catalog events.
Today, AI Catalog is available for Price Drop experiences, with additional experiences such as Back in Stock, Low in Stock, and New Arrivals planned.
Why Use AI Catalog?
AI Catalog is designed to help you:
1. Reach more of the right shoppers
Traditional catalog triggers only target shoppers who viewed the exact product tied to a catalog event. AI Catalog goes further by identifying lookalike shoppers whose behavior suggests a strong interest in that product or similar items. This widens your eligible audience without sacrificing relevance.
2. Improve relevance and personalization
Because AI Catalog is powered by affinity modeling, each shopper is matched to products they are genuinely likely to care about. This keeps your catalog messages feeling personal rather than generic, even as your audience grows.
3. Drive stronger performance
By combining broader reach with smarter targeting, AI Catalog can:
- Increase the number of high-intent shoppers receiving each catalog message
- Unlock incremental revenue beyond classic catalog programs
- Maintain or improve engagement metrics by focusing on the shoppers most likely to convert
4. Keep timing meaningful
Messages are sent in response to real-time catalog events—such as a price drop on a relevant product—and are filtered through your eligibility rules. This helps ensure shoppers receive timely, useful updates instead of repetitive or disruptive messages.
Classic vs. AI Catalog Experiences
Classic Catalog Experiences
- Who you target: Shoppers who viewed the exact product tied to the catalog event.
- How you target: Based mainly on recent browsing history.
AI Catalog Experiences
- Who you target: Shoppers who look like likely buyers for that product or similar items, even if they haven’t viewed the exact SKU.
- How you target: Based on predicted interest, calculated through product affinity modeling.
With AI Catalog, your audience is no longer limited to a narrow pool of last-touch product viewers. Instead, each catalog event becomes a chance to reach a wider set of shoppers whose behavior indicates genuine purchase intent.
How AI Catalog Works
AI Catalog runs in the background alongside your existing triggered programs. At a high level, it follows this flow:
-
Track shopper behavior
Shopper activity—such as page views, product interactions, and session-level behavior—is captured and associated with each visitor.
-
Build affinity scores
Machine learning models analyze historical behavior and engagement signals to estimate each shopper’s likelihood of purchasing individual products.
-
Watch for catalog events
When a catalog event occurs (for example, the price of a product in your feed drops or an item is back in stock), AI Catalog identifies which shoppers have a high affinity for that product or closely related items.
-
Check eligibility
Your configured eligibility rules are applied before any messages are sent. These can include criteria such as:
- Recency and frequency limits
- Suppression windows (e.g., no recent activity in a set number of days)
- Other sending or program-level rules you’ve defined
-
Send catalog messages
Shoppers who pass eligibility checks receive personalized catalog emails or texts tied to the relevant event. These sends are designed to complement your broader triggered strategy, not compete with it.
Requirements
To use AI Catalog Experiences, you’ll need:
- An active Wunderkind Catalog integration
- A relevant catalog feed (e.g., Price Drop for AI Price Drop, Low in Stock for AI LIS) that is live and functioning correctly
AI Catalog relies on your catalog data and events to decide when to send messages and which products to feature.
