Promo Banners allow you to embed image-based assets across a suite of emails at any point in time. This feature is great to enhance a limited time offer or add holiday specific messaging to your live emails at scale. These can also be scheduled within a specific time frame to adapt to seasonal changes or remove entirely after the limited time of a promotion.
In the anatomy of an email, there are three strategic placements where we recommend to embedded promo banners:
- Directly above or below header
- Between the hero and product grid
- Below the product grid.
Any promo banners placed anywhere above the Product Grid, you want a design that is short in height, simple and transactional. You want to be conscious that any messaging here does not distract your customers from engaging with the dynamic items in the product grid below the product grid, you can have a bit more fun with your promo banner designs without impacting performance.
Every new layout in Studio will populate the three promo banner blocks as a default. If you can't see them in your layout, check your left panel as they may have been hidden.
To add a promo banner in this below product grid placement, you'll want to start by uploading the image asset you want to use for your promo banner. Go to brand kit assets and logos
and upload the asset that you want to use.
Staying in this page you're going to want to find your asset and click on it right click to copy the image address and go back to your brand kit. Promo banners are variables, so you're going to set these up in smart fields. Scroll down until you see promo banner variable section, you'll see that there's three sets of image and URL promo banner names for each of the promo banner placements that I just described. To edit the below product grid promo banner. I'm going to click on the three dots to the right of the panel and paste the image URL I just copied into the value. Click OK, and then Save. To make your promo banner clickable, you want to make sure that there's a link attached to the image that you just edited. Click the three dots to the right and add a link to the value of the input field the same way you did an image URL. Hit save and then scroll back down to that same promo banner that we just edited. Clicking the three dots again, you can click on view current usage that will show you the list of all of the blocks and layouts that are using this promo banner currently Clicking on it will let you view the rendered image in your layout. This promo banner will now appear across all your layouts that are using that block in the future. If you want to change the style of that promo banner, simply repeat the steps again, upload a new image, copy the image address and go back to smart fields and replace this value within that promo banner. You
after hitting save, you can check out where that's being used and see the new value rendered within your email. Preview, I'm.
